Doylestown Brewing Company "Operation '64"
on tap at the brewery, 25 July 2015
Notes: Belgian pale ale, 5.0%, 20 IBUs. Mostly clear copper body beneath a short head of fine-bubbled white foam. Average head retention and lacing. Spice and clove in the nose. The flavor is malty, but it's a bit dull... it's bready and biscuity... not quite toasty. Spicy phenolics give it some zest, and it's solidly bitter... perhaps even a bit too bitter. Not so much a Belgian pale ale as a pale ale that's been done with Belgian yeast, if that makes sense. Still, not a bad tipple. Worth trying.
