On the can, it's described as a Black Imperial IPA.
The liquid is deep brown but light passes easily through the glass. The beige head is huge, taking up over 3/4 of the 24 ounce glass. It recedes slowly, leaving a several wide swaths of lace.
Chalky, sweeter chocolate nose. It's reminiscent of powdered cocoa. Inviting. Light caramel in the background.
Semisweet chocolate up front, but becomes darker as the taste proceeds. Relatively thin considering the appearance and flavor. The carbonation is neutral. As the liquid sits, it becomes more bitter as if the chocolate is changing into Baker's unsweetened chocolate. There's also the hop which augments the bitterness. Long aftertaste with a touch of alcohol warmth.

Best black IPA out there from what I've tasted. Really nice beer that is deceptive when you taste it, is it a stout, an IPA, an imperial, with a bit of a blend licorice. Great smooth beer with a nice subtle bouquet. Great for its gendre, if you like stouts this is a winner, if you like traditional IPAs, you will be surprised good, or bad.
