Taster at the Jozi Beer Festival
Served in the festival beer mug.
Appearance: Cloudy, light golden body topped by a good sized creamy white head. The retention and lacing are good under the circumstances.
Smell: Wow, now this is what I call a bananariffic nose! Tons of sweet banana, malted wheat, spicy yeast, cloves and a hint of citrus.
Taste: Mmmm, this one delicious weiss beer. As in the nose, sweet banana dominates the flavour. Other notes include: Malted wheat, cloves, spicy yeast and light citrus.
Mouthfeel: The body is a tad light for my tastes, but thankfully the carbonation is spot on - medium level and smooth.
Overall: Fokker Weiss is a great hefeweizen! One of the best non-German examples I have had. I will have to take a trip out to the brewery to get a few bottles!
