thanks to my brother for sharing this gifted growler with me -enjoyed chilled in a tulip.
The color is black with opaque clarity and thick light tan head with very fine bead and lace that clings lightly and receds. The smell is mostly coffee scented with light malt aroma and slightly toasty dark fruit aroma with plum-like yeast element with mild roast fromt he malt. The feel is creamy with fruity and tangy yeast with coffee and hop acidity w/light burnt texture of malt with moderately low carbonation and semi-dry finish.
The taste has a dark malt and juicy hop combination with light astringency level from the hops with gentle malt with a sort of chewy rich flavor with hint of sweet coffee in the taste mid palate with a drying quality of dark malt on the palate toward the finish with hardly any alcoholin the taste. Overall this is a very drinkable sessionable whatever you call it-black IPA....the coffee doesn't come off like green bell pepper which is nice but still a bit yeasty for me. In general I think this is better than average drinkability wise.
