Pours a dark cola brown color with a minimal off-white head. Barely any retention or lacing to speak of.
The aroma has loads of dark roasted malts, coffee, baker's chocolate, and almonds. There's just the slightest hint of black cherries on the back end as well.
The flavor brings notes of baked bread, cocoa, and a subtle coffee bitterness. Slightly roasted and nutty. The cherries are just barely noticeable on the finish as the beer begins to warm.
The feel is medium bodied with relatively low carbonation. The oats really fluff this beer up and give it some much-needed thickness and graininess.
Overall, a very impressive porter that packs quite a bit of flavor despite the low ABV. Porters and stouts are generally heavier in body and more savory, but this one is just light enough to crush on a hot day.
