Collaboration with Monkish Brewing Co.

A donut inspired Triple IPA. Say ‘commissary.' It’s a Triple IPA about a donut. Or, about donuts. About Federal Donuts. Yes, we brewed this beer with donuts (in the mash, if you care to know), and we have no regrets about that. But the real inspiration for this beer was the complex aromatics the clever folks at Federal Donuts use to set their donuts apart from the rest. We wanted to pair American hops (Simcoe, Azacca, Mosaic, Denali) with these mysterious spice blends. Throughout the process, we brought this beer into contact with strange components. Dense, subtle, mysterious perfumes, but also things fruity, floral and artless. It’s a lot for a beer to have gone through. And yet, it’s a Triple IPA about a donut. Totally unnecessary, and therefore delightful.

Can from Angela. Medium golden with small silky head. Sweet bakery aroma. Taste more so, some pine. Cookies, doughnuts, vanilla. Interesting, does not feel like 11℅>

From a 16oz can dated 12/23/16 purchased on release at TH. Pours a copper/amber color with a nice head. Spices on the nose..nutmeg predominates and maybe a hint of cinnamon. High abv, so some heat/bite on the palate and plenty of hoppy bitterness. A sipping beer, perhaps, in front of a roaring fireplace? Tasty, but not as delicious as the Federal Donuts they handed out while we were waiting in line.

The beer comes in a medium hazy medium amber color.

The aroma offers earthy spices, nutmeg, clove, overripe banana, musty fresh cantaloupe, bubble gum, an expressive Tired Hands quality, but even more aggressive than ever before.

The flavor follows with Juicy Fruit, Banana Runts, cantoloupe, a bready sweetness in the middle onto a sweet spice quality with possibly clove and nutmeg.
