Habilis is a Bipedal Double IPA, something of a riff on Alien Church, our extraterrestrial reptoid IPA. Brewed with an oat based grist, big additions of Cascade and Columbus, and a light dose of coconut oil in the kettle. Dry hopped with Alien Church’s regimen of Mosaic, Citra, and Chinook, but in altered proportions. We're getting a lot of pink grapefruit, lychee, and musky cedar notes out of it!

Growler share.
We all poured into tulips.
The appearance was a stiff paper yellow color, nice and thick with a sheet of white foamy head. Slid off at a mild pace. Sliding lace ran here and there.
The aroma has lemon, lemongrass, grapefruit pulp, cedar/woody sweet dryness and mango. Touch of smooth sweet oats.
The flavor was moderately sweet with a rolling oaty smoothness playing with a little bit of coconut. Sly aftertaste of the grapefruit, cedar and mango.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied, perhaps a touch above. Carbonation felt good, somewhat low, but nice since I'm rating this as a New England styled DIPA. ABV felt on par. Slight finish of the cedar, mango and grapefruit. Coconut oil smoothes things out a bit.
Overall, super nice New England styled DIPA. Really glad to have tried and this was brought to the party!
