Five Leaves Left (i) is a Mosaic Double IPA, the first in a series, for a friend; single hop, single adjunct double IPA. Brewed with a base of malted oats, and hopped singly and intensely with the irresistible Mosaic. Notes of unripe mango, valencia orange, soft melon, gummi peach, and string quartets.

Canned 10/04/17, it pours cloudy orange gold color with a 2 finger white foamy head that faded slowly and left excellent foamy lacing in spider web form sticking to the glass.
Smells very fruity with oranges, peach, grapefruit, papaya, guava, passion-fruit, mango, lemon zest and then caramel, toffee, graham cracker, Ritz cracker, butter, toasted grains, wheat bread, brown sugar and floral notes like a combo of tea leaf, weed and dry floral hops. Really well balanced, this nose is ridiculously fruity and great to breath in.
Tastes brings some more bitter or sour flavors like red grapefruit and souring orange juice, but basically it matches the nose with a lot of fruit and tropical fruit including oranges, peach, grapefruit, papaya, guava, passion-fruit, mango and some lemon zest. Light peppery spices and coriander join the party along with caramel, graham cracker, buttery crackers like Ritz or literally a buttered cracker, then toasted grains, tea leaf, wheat bread, brown sugar and floral notes. It fades with earthy notes and minor piney notes. I don't get the corn sugar listed on the can, but it may be adding to the sweetness and part of the overall flavor dynamics.
Mouthfeel is super creamy and velvety smooth, the feel has a medium body with what seems like particles in the brew that give it heft and texture, very low carbonation, a nice medium level of bitterness and it hides the ABV perfectly. The beer has been sitting in the can for 6-7 weeks and held up great, tasting really hoppy still and packed with complexities.

16 oz. can dated 10/04/17
Pours cloudy hazy opaque golden amber with a creamy white foam head. Smells super dank and crisp, a little corn-like with some sugary notes, caramelized bready crackery malt, mango, candied peach, papaya, passionfruit, guava, strawberry, blueberry, sweet melon, orange citrus, grapefruit, lemon, tobacco, with dank resinous floral earthy herbal grassy pine. Tastes like strawberry, blueberry, sweet melon, orange citrus, grapefruit, lemon, blood orange, mango, candied peach, papaya, passionfruit, guava, corn sugar, caramelized bready crackery malt, tobacco, with dank resinous floral earthy herbal grassy pine. Feels medium-full bodied, creamy with moderate smooth carbonation. Overall a real great DIPA with Mosaic hops and corn sugar.

Brewed with Mosaic hops and corn sugar and oats... 8% abv... Medium gold and opaque like juice; finger of white head left some lace lines behind... 10/04/17 canning... Immediate impression was sweet tea, then fruit, then fruity tea... Sweetness exceeds the bitterness, soft and smooth, medium-light feel... Decent, but not exceptional; far from my favorite vehicle for Mosaic hops, and the adjunct aspect might be dragging it down...
