Brewed to be our simple, everyday dark beer. Constructed from a base of British Maris Otter malt, as well as a selection of very dark malts. Hopped gently with Chinook. Austere, but inviting.
Notes of baker's chocolate, pumpernickle toast, mild peat, and burnt sugar.

16oz can purchased from the fridge as a single for $4.93 plus tax. It has a canned on date, but it's really small print and a bit blurry/scrunched up so it's illegible. It looks like it says May something, 2025. Makes sense because I was thinking that this is probably several months old, so let's say that it is around four months old.
Look: Nitro pour - the can says "Shake well | Pour vigorously," which is what I did. There was a thick light brown-colored head two fingers tall in a goblet snifter glass. The head has dissipated to basically nothing. The can does not contain a widget and I didn't notice any nitro cascading. It looks fine - very dark ale with a bit of bubbly carbonation on the edges.
Smell: Initial reaction is that this smells like a good Dry Irish Stout. It has a nice roasted malt backbone with comforting, aromatic coffee notes. It's also a bit smoky and kind of has a salty aroma, I guess that this could be due to minerality. Subtle cocoa powder and brownie notes. Overall, it smells pretty nice, especially since nitro beers can often have a more sudbued nose.
Taste: The taste very much mirrors the nose. It's very pleasant. I would say that it reminds me of a hybrid between a Dry Irish Stout and a Smoked Porter. The flavor up front is malty, roasted malts, and a bit smoky. The finish is dry with a moderate bitterness that comes partly from hops and probably more so from roasted malts. The bitterness lingers for a while. The finish also has a decent acidity, with notes of coffee and dark chocolate, also tannic notes with subtle black tea.
Feel: I would say that the mouthfeel and body on this beer are a bit lacking. The mouthfeel and body remind me a bit of drinking a strong cup of cold coffee. The body is super light and it tastes a bit uncarbonated. I think that this is an artifact of the nitrogen conditioning. It's a shame because the beer would be really good if it had some more body. If they would just make a non-Nitro version, it would probably be better. I think that by following the instructions on the can to shake well and pour vigorously, the beer achieved a very nice head but most of the carbonation escaped and the beer did not hang onto a creamy body at all.
Overall: It's interesting that this is classified as a Black IPA. Tired Hands simply calls it "Nitro Dark Ale" and on untappd it is labeled "Dark Ale." To me, it doesn't come off as a Black IPA so much as it's not so hoppy and much more malty like a stout. I would rather classify it as a Dry Irish Stout (may not be accurate though) or an American Stout.

A very unique offering from Tired Hands. Pours a viscous jet black with a beautiful tan creamy head. A metallic aroma with pleasant cold-brew notes. Flavor is dark chocolate, coffee, charred wood. Lush mouthfeel with very dry finish. Overall, quite fantastic!

Poured from a 16oz nitro can. “Nothing” pours pitch black in color, completely opaque, with a tick, khaki-colored head. Burnt malt aroma, not unlike an Irish dry stout. Flavor is of toasted pumpernickel, bitter bakers chocolate flanked by earthy hop bitterness. Drinks much bigger than its 4.3% abv. This is more or less an English dark mild with an extra dimension of roasted malt. Really nice dark ale.

Pours a near black with light brown head and visisble "nitro-ness".
Smell is roasty with notes of chocolate, brown sugar and rye bread.
Taste is soft and roasty with notes of chocolate, kavring, some brown sugar and a light bitterness.
Mouthfeel is rich and creamy with low carbonation. Typical nitro-feel.
Overall, a very nice, sessionable dark beer.

Aptly name, there is very little taste to this beer. Nos eis good with a lot of roasted malts and dark chocolate, but the taste is so light and flavorless it's a pretty average dry stout-like beer.

Very dark brown, approaching black, with a full, thick, dark khaki head. Cacao, coffee and light caramel-roasted/toasty malts show in the nose and continue to the taste. Very dark flavors without being bitter or acerbic. A nice full feel without getting into the creamy, chewy territory of imperial stouts these days. A highly drinkable, unsweet black beer.
