Wiccan Worship Circle is our Oak Fermented Dark Lagerbier brewed with a base of Pilsner malt and a restrained selection of German dark malts. Hopped with classic German varietals and fermented cool with our house lager yeast in a new French oak foudre at our Dispensary. Cold conditioned in the oak for many moons before its release. Notes of smoky blueberry, plum skin, jasmine tea, and Turkish apricot. The shadow to the light.

Poured from a bomber into a Dogfish Head tulip

L: Cloudy dark mud brown pour. Thin off-white head leaves a decent ring of lacing.

S: Dark fruit, a bit of funk, and bread. Musty.

T.F: Modestly tart... dark toasted malts. Bread and oak. Musty... with some sweet dark fruit. Burned raisin, fig, and plum. Tea, berry, and a bit of spice. Earthy... complex. Medium to light bodied. Effervescent carbonation. A bit more funk at the finish.

O: A really interesting offering from Tired Hands which I really enjoyed. Definitely unique, and a nice change of pace beer.

Had this on 2019-01-03 in Columbia, PA from a 750ml bottle.

A - Dark brown with a 3/4-finger tan head and light lace

S - A little grassy funk then some toasted brown bread, tea and dates.

T - Well-toasted sourdough bread, tea, oak, smoke, plum and perhaps some Brett from the foudre. Finishes a little funky, dry, tart and with mild bitterness.

M - Light body and medium carbonation.

O - A very experimental and unusual beer. I'm glad for the experience but I must say I prefer more traditional German beer styles / flavors.

Really interesting, unique beer. German dark malts give it a somewhat classic dunkel taste. But the oak fermentation takes a step toward that farmhouse taste in so many Tired Hands beers. Fruit flavors spice up the dark lager tradition.

750 ml capped bottle. Dated 1/31/18 on the back label

Pours a cloudy dark brown with a thin white head that fades. Aroma is mildly tart, oak, earthy, grainy, minerally. Similar taste, a bit funky but with some dark fruit, mild roast and bready dark malt. Finishes dry and a touch acidic. Medium bodied, slick mouthfeel

This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small head, and a lot of lacing.

This smells like raisin puree, dried plum, smoke, chocolate malt, bread, lager yeast, light funk, and herbal tea.

This is definitely the most unique dark lager I've ever had. It's subtly funky, and very fruity, with loads of dark fruit- I get blueberry/plum/raisin tones, and a bit sulfury sweet lager yeast tones as well. There's tobacco and tea, too, with creamy bitter chocolate and pumpernickel bread.

This is medium bodied, with a silky and slightly creamy body, and a soft level of carbonation.

This is a really, really weird beer that surprisingly works for me. It's one of the more interesting beers I've had from Tired Hands, and it doesn't even have anything weird thrown in.

Wiccan Worship Circle sits a very dark brown in the glass with a thin finger of creamy, gray-tinted tan foam. It's dark enough that I didn't even notice the bottle was green until I started pouring. The head quickly settles into a thin crown and leaves spotty lacing.

It has a bready, lager aroma with a little sulfur and just a twinge of plum-like sourness beneath.

That fruity sourness is much stronger in the taste, dominating the first impression. A touch of the breadiness comes through on the backend, though, contributing to a soft, rounded finish that includes a hint of coffee and some residual sweetness. More of the plum-like tartness continues into the aftertaste.

It's medium bodied with a soft feel and just enough carbonation.

This is a weird-ass, style-busting beer. It's relatively light and drinkable, but still much fuller-bodied than any Euro dark lager I've tried before and has a real potpourri of flavors going in it. I bet this would be hella tasty around Halloween.

Poured from bottle. Pours a black licorice color. Not jet black, but dark with about a fingers worth of foamy head. Smell is sour, couldn't pick up much more than that. Taste is oaky, with a touch of blueberry. Definitely tart, but not overpowering. Medium to light mouth feel, drinks pretty easy. A nice beer that was like nothing I've had before.
