Piña Colada Double Milkshake IPA is our latest heavily amplified psychedelic riff on THE boundary-pushing Culinary IPA series. Brewed with gobs of oats and lactose sugar. Conditioned atop an abundance of luscious Madagascar vanilla beans and an entire summer vacation’s worth of pineapple & coconut purées. Intensely hopped and then double dry hopped with Mosaic and Citra.=) Spirited notes of canned pineapple, splashes of tropical punch, and fatty coconut pie. Dreamt up, as always, in tandem with our main dudes at @omnipollo!

L: pours thick hazy orange with a half finger of head
S: lighter aroma with oranges
T: very good. Tastes like oranges and cream. Nice balance of sweet and bitter but this is by no means a bitter beer.
F: very creamy, thick and easy drinking drinking.

Seeing reviews saying it has an unusually bitter finish for a shake. That improves upon the the shake for me. Normally I think the lactose and vanilla beans make their shakes overly sweet and they don’t pack enough bite. The bitterness in the back end of this plays with the lactose and vanilla to balance it out. It’s not heat. It’s a tartness from the pineapple. I enjoyed.

I usually love their milkshakes, but lately they have been a miss for me. I had to trade these away with my brother for a few of the key lime pie that was also released this week, along with others. Issa no from me.

From draft at TH on 4/18/18 when this beer was released in cans. A typical cloudy straw gold TH IPA in appearance. Tropical notes on the nose and palate, with the always-enjoyable silky mouthfeel of a milkshake IPA. That said, I thought the finish was overly bitter and perhaps a bit "hot" from the high ABV. It might be that, fresh out of the keg, this was a bit green and could taste better in a few weeks.
