Sustained Transient Self is our Sustained IntraConically Hopped Double IPA. Brewed atop a buoyant mountain of oats and wheat. IntraConically Hopped in a Sustained manner with Citra, Mosaic, and Simcoe. All hops were added entirely throughout fermentation in a metered hourly/daily fashion. No hops were added to Sustained Transient Self while the beer was warmer than 72F. Our new hopping technique has given way to an incredibly smooth, bright, and downright luscious Double IPA full of super juicy tangerine, vanilla cream, lemon meringue, guava preserves, mango lassi, and end of season honey drenched cantaloupe.

Taste follows with melon, mango, guava, sweet fruits. Fruit juice lingers.

16oz can dated 8/17/18.
Pours cloudy yellow with a moderate head and minimal retention. Pineapple, peach, and candied orange in the nose. Quite floral and pungent. Medium bodied with a creamy, tacky mouthfeel. Sweet citrus on the palate with zero bitterness. Mango, peach, and pineapple. Finishes sweet, fruity, and juicy.
Lots of fruit but overly sweet.

Hazy, semi-murky, semi-vibrant orange with two fingers of antique white head that leaves messy rings of soapy lacing.
Nectarine, melon and a little white pepper show at first in the nose. (There's a faint nutty, butterscotch character when I really stick my snout in there and inhale which isn't my favorite -- but it's so distant, I'm not going to worry about it.)
A sweet apple-and-peach-juice medley dominates the taste. There's honey and some tea-cake malt beneath that. And there's a creamy element binding it altogether, like vanilla pudding with a tiniest bit of butterscotch mixed in. Fruit juice cut by a little white wine and bitter herb lingers in the aftertaste.
Medium to heavy bodied with just a little oily slickness to the feel and good carbonation.
Not my favorite TH DIPA. A little on the sweet side, even for this day and age. But it's still perfectly enjoyable.

Canned 8/17/18 (9 days ago)
L - 2-finger fizzy bright white head atop a burnt orange body.
S - papaya, mango, pineapple, grapefruit, herb.
T - fruit from the nose follows into the taste, but that tropical paradise is quickly washed over by a tide of sweet, medicinal muck. Not dirty per se, but an overwhelming artificial soapiness. And that soapy taste lingers into the finish, combining with noticeable alcohol to become rather unpleasant. Moderate-low bitterness. Moderate-low sweetness. Moderate booziness.
F - medium-light, watery body with average carb.
O - curious if anyone else has the same reaction to this beer. I very much want to like everything Tired Hands makes, but I honestly just want to wash the taste of this out of my mouth immediately.
