Waiting for the Gloom is our Fucked up and Gloomy IPA brewed originally at our humble little #BrewCafé a few months back. This is the version of WftG that we featured on cask a few weeks in a row due to guest demand!!! Constructed atop mounds of pillowy malted oats, activated charcoal and graham crackers. Intensely hopped in the kettle with Cascade & Simcoe. Dry hopped singularly and aggressively with the almighty Nelson Sauvin from our 2018 selections in New Zealand. Conditioned on heaps of Tahitian vanilla and graham cracker. Notes of lush lemon meringue, candied concord grape, s’mores, ripe blueberry, nilla wafers and Thanksgiving pie crust.

Ridiculous green gray color with white head. Aroma has dank, herbal hops, lime and kiwi. Taste follows with the fruity hop notes, a bit herbal as well, biscuity malt in the background, medium bitterness on the finish. Medium plus body with medium carbonation. Looks really weird but overall it's a really tasty IPA.

16 ounce can. Poured into tulip. Blind review, part of canconphilly’s NBS BIF 8.5 box.
Huh, pours a slightly murky, grayish green with black floaties. Or sinkies. I had some previous knowledge of what this would look like. Even with expecting it, it still is surprising. Different to say the least! Hard to rate based on this appearance.
Aroma of soft melon, guava, hint of citrus.
Definitely unique. Watermelon, berries, melon, floral, grape skin, green strawberry.
Way thin, watery. Prickly finish. I’m being generous at a 3.5 here.
For my first gloomy IPA, ( new category here!) its not bad. Definitely should put instructions on the label to roll the can or pour half, swish, and pour the rest. Glad to try this !

Pours a very strange color, a sort of greenish yellow with fine, soapy head.
Smell is fruity and bright with notes of tea, apricot and some sweet vanilla. Also a hint of blueberries.
Taste is fruity and pretty juicy. Notes of apricots, tea, and blueberry pie, a bit of sweetness and a soft bitterness to round out. Well balanced.
Mouthfeel is medium, well carbonated.
Overall, this looks weird and sounds like it's going to be weird, but turns out to be a good, balanced IPA with some interesting side flavors.

From a 16oz can. Certainly the oddest-looking IPA, given its gray-green color which is reminiscent of very dirty dishwater. That said, the nose and palate were delicious.

Amazingly interesting color like I've never seen before in a beer. A little too smooth on the mouth feel for me personally but over all a very unique and enjoyable brew. Well done!

Poured from a 16 oz can into a willi Becher glass.
L - Pours a hazy grayish green with a fluffy white head.
S - Smells very hoppy with some pineapple notes.
T - Starts with a tropical fruit taste, gets a little strange in the middle, with some graham cracker thrown in.
F - Medium body and carbonation.
O - Definitely an ugly looking beer, but I kind of liked it. I think 1 would be my limit though.

This one has “activated carbon” in it, and the brewers recommend gently agitating it before pouring.
Pours a murky green-hued gray color with close to three fingers of similarly-tinted white head that’s much rockier and well-formed than many Tired Hands offerings. Clumpy, messy lacing. It’s ugly, but it’s supposed to look like this, right?
Lovely aroma of spicy pine, Italian herbs and distant tropical fruit.
Sweet peach and mango-type fruits up front in the taste, with a little pie crust and pine behind. Less herbal elements than the nose, but some definite spiciness does carry over. A little lime-like citrus mixes with pine in the finish.
Medium to heavy bodied with peppery carbonation.
This smells and tastes good. It’s not a top-notch Tired Hands IPA, but is much better, IMO, than many of their more gimmicky beers.

L - 2-finger offwhite head atop a snot (?) green opaque body. Looks quite bad.
S - citrus, herb, pine, floral.
T - grapefruit, caramel, cracker jacks, butter. Low bitterness. Moderate-low sweetness. Low booziness.
F - medium body and carb.
O - looks weird, tastes ok.

I am totally obsessed with tired hands. But this release felt like it was a left over cask conditioned release that didn't sell at the Brew pub. Cudos on the marketing though!!
