The beer is pitch black and would easily be mistaken for a stout from an arms length. The smell is roasty, but not overpowering, a hallmark of the beer. The mouthfeel is relatively thin. It tastes roasty, but without the bitterness that would elevate it into a more traditional black IPA. Overall, nice but forgettable.
