Brewed to a simple base recipe of Pilsner malt and oats and a touch of white sage from Colorado. Fermented with house ale yeast and dry hopped with Australian Enigma, Ella, and Vic Secret.

Grain of salt - this beer is 3 months old at time of review!

Gorgeous, no signs of oxidation - bright yellow orange with big long lasting head. First aroma is the sage from a distance, followed by big hops aroma. At this point lots of mango fleshy yeast eaters dominate (old can). Sage hits early in the sip as a bit of a resinous / woody counterpoint to the juicyness that follows. DIPA, so a bit of alcohol noticeable, again could be from age and diminishing dry hop punch. The head holds up, the beer remains full but pleasantly quaffable. Overall the sage is a neat element that works like a Columbus or Chinook dry hop in its resin character. Pretty cool beer, would like to have tried it fresh!

From 16 oz can. From the TH Instagram post: “Explicate Order is a Southern Hemisphere Double IPA with Colorado White Sage brewed in collaboration a couple weeks back with our dear old friend Chad from @crookedstave from the mountainous paradise of Colorado. Brewed to a simple base recipe of Pilsner malt and oats and a touch of white sage Chad so kindly brought out East with him. Fermented with our house ale strain and then pummeled in the dry-hop with some of our favorite hops from down under: Australian Enigma, Ella, and Vic Secret. Brimming with notes of lime slushy, grapefruit soda, unripe mango, fruit cocktail and earthy orange.” Maybe a little overly bitter and/or some heat from the higher abv.
