DDH Xtra Mango MagoTago is a triumphant reprise of one of our most beloved BrewCafé classics, MagoTago. We've tinkered quite a bit to figure out how best to execute this beer on a production scale, and we're quite (SUPERRR) happy with where this one landed. Brewed with a solid IPA foundation, composed of flaked wheat, and plenty of Simcoe and fermented on, frankly, a silly amount of mango puree, and heavily Double Dry Hopped with our very very best Simcoe. Notes of mango HiChews, overripe pineapple, tangerine juice, Looza Mango Juice, and 2013 Ardmore Vibes made anew.

The mago tago runs have a awkward history. Not frequently brewed. In the beginning of time for TH some thought it was the unicorn. Then a run a few years ago with excessive heat put a dent in its credibility. This batch is phenomenal.
The thickness of the mango pulp is obvious on the pour. It has a hefty body for an ipa. Great vibrant color. Nose is a combination of mango and hops.
I’m not a fan of fruited iPas. I think adjuncts, fruit or other, tend to detract from the flavor and feel of a beer. Fruited ipas tend to come off cloyingly sweet for me.
This is different. The mango is present but not overly sweet. The hop profile is drier with some bitterness that perfectly balanced the dense mango. Great feel.
For many fruited ipas or adjunct ipas I feel the need to go on run or hit the gym to ward off the claws of diabetes. But this one just has me wanting to crack open another. It just leaves me thirsty.
