From a 16oz can dated 12/3/20 into a pint glass. Message on can bottom: "Syringa Vulgaris" Whatever the heck that means.
Pours an opaque straw color with about two fingers of white head. Great retention and lacing.
The lilac smell is definitely noticeable! Very interesting. Also picking up some citrus-mainly orange, lemon and grapefruit along with some earthy dankness.
So I've never tasted a lilac before, but this is probably how I'd imagine it tasted-at least based on the smell. Some citrus in there as well as some bitter pine.
Mouthfeel is soft but maybe a little thin. Aftertaste is bitter but with a citrus acidity. Carbonation seems a little high.
Overall, this is one heck of an interesting beer. There's nothing in the notes that says lilac was added but it's reminding me of the giant lilac bushes when they were blooming in in my parents yard when I was a kid. Fascinating beer!

From a 16oz can dated 12/03/2020 (I think; it is a bit blurry). From the TH Instagram post: “Lilac is our Galaxy, Ella and Moteuka IPA brewed with American 2 row barley and a hefty proportion of raw wheat. Hopped quite generously with Motueka and Galaxy, and fermented with an expressive SNY (Special New Yeast!!!) that we are super excited to have experimented with in one of our IPAs. Continually hopped throughout fermentation with Australian Ella and Galaxy, as well as New Zealand Motueka. 6.7% ABV. Notes of teaberry ice cream, pineapple sage, banana cream pie, pithy clementine, and tropical cocktail slushees.” Fabulously dank nose on this one, and delicious.
