Poured from the bottle into a tulip glass.
L- jet black with no head.
S- very faint bourbon and cocoa.
T- Bourbon and Rye heat upfront. Cocoa
bitterness follows.
F- Luscious mouthfeel with no
carbonation.
O- Good but not great. I had higher
expectations considering the
brewery and pedigree of the
product.

Almost no head, even from a strong pour. Body is nearly as black as the name implies.
Intense aroma, strongly featuring the barrels. Oak, bourbon, brown sugar, red grape, prune, light char, molasses, coffee, honeycomb, rye. Absolutely phenomenal.
Mouthfeel is a touch flat, unsurprising given the appearance.
Phenomenally roasty on the palate, with roasted barley notes of burnt coffee, char, and bitter Baker's chocolate. The barrels, while very much present, aren't as dominant on the palate as they are on the nose. Mild sweetness. Additional tasting notes include toast, honeycomb, raisin, prune, walnut, leather, and red grape.

Poured from a 16oz bottle into pint glass in October 2022. The label lists a brewed date of October 2021, 1 year barrel aging, and a bottled date of October 2022. I drank this within 1 week of purchase at their Ardmore brewpub.
Appearance: Very dark black with absolutely no head. There was no lacing on the glass.
Smell: Strong aroma of bourbon that filled air as soon as the bottle was opened. There is some additional sweetness like chocolate, caramel, and malts. Not much hop aroma. Some roasted coffee as well.
Taste: There is an interesting combination of flavors. There are strong bourbon and chocolate flavors. Also, some coffee and smoky roasted malt flavors, and a little caramel flavor. There is some bitterness from hops. There is a strong alcohol presence that matches 14% listed below (I did not see the ABV on the label). There is a strong oak and whiskey aftertaste, that is really enjoyable.
Mouth-feel: Initially thinner than expected, but then feels thick in the mouth. An extremely smooth and creamy body.
This is an excellent barrel aged Imperial Stout, and it has a variety of flavors that adds a nice complexity to the beer. The whiskey and chocolate flavors nicely contrast and balance each other. It is very smooth and enjoyable to drink. I would definitely buy this again.
Dec 23, 2022 Update: bought a few more bottles and drank one today. My comments and ratings are confirmed with this tasting. A great BBA Imperial Stout. Would buy more if it was not this expensive. Instead makes for a great beer on a special occasion.

2021 vintage. Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a Dogfish Head tulip.
L: Inky black thick viscous pour. Low carbonation... a thin fizzy mocha colored head falls fast. Barely there ring of lacing.
S: Rich and sweet. Cocoa, roast, vanilla, and booze. Baked dark fruit.
T.F: Sweet and decadent. Rich roast... boozy. Vanilla and oak plus some rye. Baked raisin/fig and plum. Dark chocolate and more fruit. Thick and oily on the tongue. Heavy bodied... warming.
O: A decadent and wonderful big double BA stout. Picks up all the goodness from the barrels... by far the best stout I've had from Tired Hands. As good as Bourbon County used to be.
