Poured from a 16oz can into pint glass in March 2023. There was a canned on date of 02/23/2023, with some letters on the bottom "S&B". I bought the beer at their brew pub in Ardmore and drank it within 2 weeks of purchase.
Appearance: Very dark black with a tan head. Head was 2 fingers high, and lasted a few minutes. It left a little lacing on the glass, and ended with a thin tan head still on the beer.
Smell: Aroma of roasted malts and chocolate. There is also some vanilla and caramel, but overall the roasted malt and chocolate dominate the others.
Taste: There is a nice mix of malt, coffee, and chocolate flavors. Also some vanilla, marshmallow, and smokey roasted flavors. There is a lesser amount of bitter hop flavors to enhance the taste. There is a medium alcohol presence.
Mouth-feel: Medium body, but also smooth. It has a little edge as a good Porter should, and is not as smooth as a milk stout. .
This is a very good Porter, and I enjoyed the variety of bold flavors. There is a nice balance between the chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, and hop flavors. Even though it is a big Porter, it is still smooth and enjoyable to drink. I would buy this again.
