Trendler Weizenbock, our experimental take on a classic style, was brewed with white, Cara Crystal and Midnight wheats in addition to Pilsner, acidulated and chocolate malts and hopped very lightly with German Saaz and fermented in stainless our MAGICKAL saison yeast. Trendler Weizenbock is a bold departure for our usually traditional line of Trendler ales and lagers, but we certainly think it’s a trip worth taking! Notes of chocolate covered banana, smoky chicory and crushed red grape.

Pours a dark brown color with a finger of head. Getting some wheat notes but there is a touch of sour as well.
The flavor is quite sour, so I checked the date. It's just over 60 days old and the can seemed undamaged, so I am going to assume that it was designed to taste this way.
Not true to style.

Received a can from Jzeilinger 9-11-23. Canned 4-7-23; consumed 10-3-23.
Beer poured dark brown with a great tan head.
Nose is wheat forward with notes of dark grapes and chocolate malts.
Taste follows the nose as the chocolate malts dominates and is actually blended nicely with the red grapes. Finishes balanced and dry with no hints of sourness.
Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and fairly smooth.
Overall a very tough beer to wrap your head around as you get no over saison yeast notes and to me almost drinks like a session chocolate stout with grapes. Nice job by the brewing team, not really up my alley!

Purchased as part of a 4 pack from Tired Hands Beer Park in Newtown Square, PA!
L- Nearly pitch black! Looks and pours
like an Imperial Stout!
S- Sweet malt with a sour hint.
T- Sour grapes and chocolate.
F- Smooth mouthfeel.
O - A really “weird “ beer. I originally
thought that this was spoiled! Luckily,
I gave it a chance! It’s not in my
wheelhouse, but it’s not terrible. Very
unique!

Poured into a narrow pint glass: color is dark brown, head is tan and presents nearly two fingers thick, head lingers well with some spotty lacing.
Smell is light roast, then sour grape, some cocoa, no banana.
Taste is sour grape, light roast, some cocoa, limited hefe or spice notes.
Mouthfeel is low/moderate carbonation, moderate sweetness, lingering sourness with a puckering quality.
Overall - way surprised by the flavor of this one - after reading Tired Hands description i see that acid malt and saison yeast were used so somewhat possible get to this type of flavor. There is some roast/cocoa/wheat but the spice of the yeast is overtaken by the sour grape aroma/flavor/feel.
Second tasting after 2 months: Similar presentation/appearance. Aroma is less sour, more malty, some wheat, limited/no spice. Taste is similarly sour, similar light roast and chocolate, aged hops. Mouthfeel is lower carbonation, moderate sour sweetness, limited bitterness and lingering sour presence. Overall some aging seems to have smoothed some of the sour/acidic presence, roast/chocolate are still noticeable.

Not a style I generally like, but this beer was intensely sour.
