16oz can into a pint glass. Canned 3/22/23, so 10 weeks old.

Looks decent, pear juice colored body with a small white head leaving rings of lacing. Aroma seems to be a mild battle between fruit and dank. No fruit in the taste, more of a light herbal flavor. Finish a little drying. Odd for a TH beer to taste so different from the cans description.

From a 16oz can dated 03/22/2023. From the lengthy TH Instagram post: “ We’ve partnered with the exclusive and prestigious Hans Quality Institute for Brewing to bring forth a beer of such supreme simplicity, it could truly have only been brewed by an inspired master. A short time ago Hans himself, and two of his most devoted scholars (Ariadne and Günter) were guests at the Fermentaria where they worked with our brew-team to build a Classic American Double IPA.

While Hans and his Institute are known for their refined Zungenbrecher Lagers, which took Germany by storm in the early 90’s, they jumped at the opportunity to brew something outside of their classically trained portfolio. We synthesized our penchant for haze and hops with their propensity for discipline and tradition to create the perfect amalgam: SPECIFIC GRAVITY.

Brewed with 2-row and a scientifically approved and measured blend of two different oat malts and hopped systematically and rigidly with hand-selected Columbus, Mosaic and Simcoe. We then took a page out of Herr Quality’s literal book “Alpha Acid Retention in Traditional Ale and Lager Fermentation and Decoction”, and dry hopped this beer with precision and vigor with Mosaic, Simcoe and Simcoe Cryö, a version of Simcoe Cryo stored in the patented humidors of Institute Quality Control director Dr. Kitzler, in her laboratory in Bavaria. We couldn’t be more proud to be the newest students under Han’s Quality’s tutelage.

The Quality name is branded onto the history of beer through literal centuries of brewing. Hans Quality’s 11th great Uncle, Gustav Quality, was a brewer and counsel to Duke Wilhelm IV who instituted Bavaria’s Reinheitsgebot laws. We are proud to help continue the generations-long tradition of brewing Quality beer. Notes of Linzer cookies with nectarine filling, peach kuchel and German caramelized orange pudding.”

Nice IPA, but not outstanding.
