Brewed in the early Winter of 2020. Cooled in the night air of our handmade copper koelschip, situated in a beautiful barn in Chester County. Fermented and matured in a first use egg shaped American oak foeder for 36 months. Bottled in late winter of 2022. Notes of toffee, burnt brown sugar and Crème Caramel

Sour barleywine can be really good but this is just ok. There's a traditional barleywine style caramel hiding under all the funky apricots, tart, wet wood, pithy oranges, and sour candy powder. The overall affect is kind pf a heavy, bruising beer experience.

Poured a light, semi-cloudy brown color; dark translucence in the glass; thin yet lasting head, off-white color; light partial rings of foam inside the glass. Warm, raw wood and light caramel smell. Boozy, woody, sweet taste; rich caramel; phenol bitterness. Heavy body; sticky; light alcohol heat and sharpness on the palate.
An interesting and generally decent barleywine, a little rough around the edges, but one that should age gracefully.
Pouring temperature: 49 °F; bottling info: Brewed in the early winter of 2020. Bottled in late Winter of 2022

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a dark brownish orange with a thin, light khaki head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, toffee, overripe plums, oaky vanilla and woody oak; unusual, but inviting. Flavor is dry caramel malt, apricots, a hint of orange citrus, raisins, ripe plums, oaky vanilla and oak wood. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. An unusual take on a barleywine. The main profile is American barleywine of the type that used to be also named triple IPA, except this has almost no bitterness. The flavor is very similar with bright fruit rather than dark dried fruit dominating. Lots of barrel effect with both vanilla and wood from the oak. Starts a bit sweet, but finishes fairly dry, although the mouth feel is almost like an overly sweetened alle. I've wanted to try something from this brewery for a while and this is an intriguing introduction.
