DDH Oblivex (Simcoe) has risen from the grave. An extra-freaky, extra-undead variation on Oblivex, our MASSIVE electro-mummy docking station Double IPA. Brewed to the same base recipe, with oats and spelt, and dry hopped with our best Citra and Amarillo, then secondarily dry hopped with a big ol' hit of lush Simcoe. This batch is the absolute truth. 9.2% Notes of Grandma’s spice cabinet, donut peaches, and drippy mango jelly candies.

A - Opaque deep golden peachy tan colored pour with bubbly, frothy lacing.

S - Spicy tropical fruit, some berry, and some spicy herbal character, and some citrus.

T - Some berry, tropical fruit, citrus, some spicy citrus rind, peach, and ends on the sweeter side with nice fruitiness and some underlying pine.

M - Big pillowy soft and chewy with a little bit of warming on the way down.

O - Really good and worth checking out.

16oz can dated 10/11/24.

Pours murky gold with an inch-plus head of rocky white. Plenty of tattered lacing and persistent retention. Extremely pungent in the nose with unripe peach, pineapple skins, grapefruit. Medium bodied with a soft mouthfeel. A bit raw, bitter, and green on the palate with big, pithy citrus. Unripe peach, grapefruit pith, hard mangos. Finishes bitter with tongue-numbing hops and minimal malt.

Poured from the can into a Spiegelau IPA glass.

Cream like delicious forming head, rich and lathery with off white color and a tall sticking appearance. Fine bubbles and more of that creamy top. Classic simple slightly turbid and totally opaque pale custard yellow body.

Aroma is big and decadent. Perfume like dank aromas, with fruit peach and tropical notes lingering nicely. Touches of pine like spruce as well just a hair it seems making for lots to explore on the nose here. Perfume angle even brings out rose like floral touches which is very impressive.

Delicious expressive palate. Not quite the juicy feel, but still hits with a creamy body to add some gusto. Rich sensing hop angles of earth dankiness, with a big peach and citrus to melon fruit like action. Excellent creamy finish, with a touch of NEIPA sweetness but still a good pine/herbal cut that really gets pronounced on the finish. Drinks real easily too.

Superb big IPA. Very nice.

Can to snifter.

Lemondrop. Palm. Hairspray. Passion fruit. Papaya.

A bit sharp for Simcoe hops which I usually find smooth.

Rough around the edges but tasty.

Canned on 10/2/2023. Poured into a Willi Becher glass. It pours a hazy, dirty-orange color with a two-finger cap of fluffy, bright-white foam and lots of soapy lacing inside the glass. A big, fruity nose featuring orange/tangerine, pineapple, berry, and soft floral hops. Wow, it's good! Big flavors of orange, peach, berry, lemon, and grapefruit, along with oaty sweetness, but it's also earthy and floral with strong notes of pine sap and spice which nicely balance with sweetness of the tropical and stone fruits. The brewer used spelt to great effect. The mouth feel is plush and creamy with pleasant carbonation, and you'd never think the ABV is 9.2% - it goes down very easily for the gravity. Overall, DDH Oblivex (Simcoe) is a gem of a DIPA; another superb offering from Tired Hands.
