A new interpretation of our classic Imperial Stout. Rich and full-bodied from a base of 2-row and oat, roasted barley, midnight wheat, chocolate malt, caramel malt and light caramel malt. Hopped, as always, with a touch of Chinook for some bitterness, then conditioned on gooey peanut butter and heaps of luscious chocolate.

Pours a viscous black with a thin amber head. Dark roasted malt with cocoa aroma. Not much in the way of peanut butter on the nose. Bitter dark chocolate and coffee flavor upfront. A very subtle hint of peanut butter on the backend. Very full mouthfeel with light carbonation. Overall, a very good imperial stout. An okay Peanut Butter Cup stout. I’m not a big fan of way overdone adjunct stouts, but this could use a wee bit more Peanut Butter!

It pours very richly, maybe lusciously. With the entire contents of a pint can decanted into a clear glass liter mug, this shows as black coffee brown as any beer. Although its head was very short-lived, even that was much darker brown than those of most Stouts. It smells rich, too, with heavy notes of roasted barley, dark chocolate and even some expresso. Surprisingly, what isn't pronounced for the nose is the peanuts. There's only a little more of the peanut butter flavor in its taste. This is incredibly luscious, rich, smooth and full flavored. But it's missing something, a healthy dose of peanut butter. There's more to taste than there was to smell and this is called a peanut butter cup Stout, not a peanut butter Stout, so the solid presence of dark chocolate is not unexpected, nor not appreciated. But, this is out of balance and could have used a little more peanut flavor. Other than that and its lack of any glass lacing, this is remarkably good. There's a mild sweetness to stand up to the bitterness of the hops and roasted barley. Its ABV is warming on the insides, but barely noticed by the tongue. In all, it's a great Imperial Stout that would pair nicely with some peanut butter crackers.
