Our take on the classic West Coast IPA, hopped with Centennial, Chinook, Columbus & Simcoe. Packed with mango and passionfruit aroma with that iconic long, juicy, resinous finish.

Sep. 2013: 330 ml bottle conditioned. ABV is 5.9%. Hops are Citra, Centennial, Columbus and Simcoe. Will soon be available at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Surprisingly pale and hazy yellow colour, huge white head. Pleasant aroma of citrussy hops, also notes of tropical fruits, a faint hint of smoke. Distinctly hoppy flavour throughout, not too sweet, with a solid grapefruity and resinous bitterness in the finish, again with a whiff of smoke. Very refreshing. Nice one.

330ml Can from Beer52.coom (£0.37):
Quite an average beer on the while, this one started with a lot of floral flavours & some perfume notes on the nose but it was a little weak at times sadly. Things became more settles around the middle & the beer had a chance to open up some with the perfume fading & the citrus becoming more noticeable with some light fruits in there too. It was easy to drink & pleasant enough but it wasn't a very exciting offering sadly & it's not one I'd really go for again either.

Can. Hazy gold. Thick, frothy and dense head.
Phenolic hops abound. Tropical and citrus fruits. Background malt with light butter indicated.
Hops again in flavour. Fruity throughout. Moderate astringency.
Quite a low carbonation. Medium body. Refreshing enough.
EIPA - I don't think so.

Nothing special to report about this one. Clearly tries to be a tropical fruit IPA but fails to be expressive enough. Maybe not fresh enough as it is the case with IPAs.

A 330ml bottle with a BB of April 2014. Picked up a while back from Beeritz. The label mentions that it is hopped with Citra, Centennial, Columbus and Simcoe.
Poured into a Duvel tulip. Bottle conditioned. A hazy orange-amber hue with fine sediment and very low carbonation. Yields a decent head of white foam that lasts for a minute or two before settling as a patchy surface layer. Aroma of strong buttery diacetyl with underlying hints of fruitiness, faint citrus, vague caramel malt and a twinge of earthy yeast. There is an overriding character of strawberry yoghurt, which is just bizarre (not to mention unwelcome).
Tastes of fruity aromatic hops with a bitter finish. Notes of white grape, subtle citrus, buttery diacetyl, mild caramel malt, earthiness and stewed hops. Faintly sweet, with a lurking butteriness and a strident bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth and mildly tingly, with hop oils stimulating the palate. Good body but low carbonation renders it flat and textureless. Slightly astringent, followed by an aftertaste of bitter aromatic hops, diacetyl and faint malt.
Meh - underdelivers on its promises. An intense diacetyl presence compromises everything about this beer - the pervasive buttery character is impossible to escape. Lacklustre looks, while the aroma is very buttery and sweet. Weird fruity off-notes don't help. The flavour is a little better but not much; some hop notes and malt. Poor body; needs a serious carbonation boost. Given that this is bottle conditioned I have no idea what went wrong - perhaps something killed the yeast during bottling? An unsatisfying experience and another RedWillow beer that falls short. Caveat emptor.

Marmalade colour in a glass with decent enough white head , elegantly balanced off against a clean bitter finish.
