Whoop, just 3 days after this Limited Edition beer hit the shelves on November 4, 2020, I happened to come across it at a Lawson Station and as Sapporo has been the very first beer I had in Japan way back in the past, I felt an urge to give this one a try as well.
And I didn’t regret it. Sapporo has been doing things lately, although I wasn’t neither observant not too interested in it, but these Black Labels or Classics definitely got my attention. This time it was about the Extra Malts to the beer, Canadian Malts that is, to be precise. Of course, being a Japanese beer it also “boasts” rice, corn and starch as well...
...but nevertheless, it DOES taste like real beer this time! Very non-Japanese, I like it! Reminded me of your average, semi-strong(er), semi-dark(er) European lagers, the closest one would be the Faxe Premium I guess. In a nutshell, what I’m trying to say is that it is unusually quite different from your average, over-manufactured Japanese beer, it didn’t have any unnatural aftertaste (to me) and with a slight exaggeration I could (almost) feel like being back home in Europe while drinking it.
It was not bad at all, on the contrary made me curious about the other new styles Sapporo came up with recently, like the one made with 100% Touhoku Hops.
Not bad at all!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
