This is definitely a Czech Pilsner, or at least I think it is so forgive me if I am wrong. It smells and tastes quite hop-intensive, similar to the Czech originals, the aroma of these Golden Star hops is definitely very close to Saaz, although the taste has a little Japanese flaw though that I do not personally fancy, the “kitchen rag” aftertaste thing…
Hop bitterness is there, lots of lacing, quite sticky and altogether quite pleasant, especially for a Japanese brew it is outstanding.
In recent years I have been under the impression that Sapporo is the only major brewer that can be on par with the overseas ones so I will keep my fingers crossed for (the remnants of) Stone…
