Nizhegorodskoye Bochkovoye is a light unpasteurized beer, "bochkovoye" means barrel-aged.
Pours clear golden beer with decent off-white head. Aroma of sour milk and bread. Taste – sweet malts and barley, somewhat stale with well-hidden weak hop bitterness. Carbonation is low, a kind of barrel timber aftertaste. The beer itself is an example of low-priced Russian beer, close to soviet; not so bad, but inexpressive.
