A: Poured from the bottle into a Piraat tulip/snifter-type glass. Body is slightly hazy orangey-amber with a 1-finger, tight-bubbled foamy ivory head on top. Some lacing.

S: Old school DIPA nose: citrus & herbal hops, a touch of pine, over honey malt.

T: Citrus is there - more orange than anything else, though with a bit more bitterness on the finish that suggests grapefruit pith or peel. Some tropical fruit, but I keep coming back to creamy orange - it's like an orangesicle ice cream bar. A touch of peach is there, as well as some lime at the finish. The 8% ABV is not evident at all.

M: This beer loses me a bit with the mouthfeel - first impression, it comes across as thin and watery. After a few sips my palate adjusts, but it's still on the thin side, though a creamy carbonation becomes more noted. Finishes quite dry.

O: Interesting. Not sure what to make of this over all - it has some nice aspects to it, but the feel doesn't seem to fit a DIPA.

12oz. bottled on 24 Jun 16

Pours hazy amber orange with a dense creamy white foam head. Smells like strawberry shortcake, pineapple, candied toffee, slight butterscotch, caramel, dark honey, bready biscuity grain, sweet guava, papaya, melons, berry, grapefruity citrus, with some earthy piney grass. Tastes like melon, berries, papaya, strawberry, guava, grapefruit, pineapple, orange, sweet toffee, dark honey, dark caramel, bready biscuity malt, with dank pine and herbal earthy grass. Feels medium bodied, smooth and creamy with low carbonation. Overall a nice double IPA.

It seems as though they fixed the suds issue on the 4/6/16 bottling however there is a new and more problematic issue...the smell. It literally smells like novelty fart spray that I bought as a kid. Despite that, it's drinkable and based on the brewer, I will try another bottling and re-review after that tasting. Avoid the 4/6 bottling if possible. Buy Happiness is a warm pun from late March instead until they work this one out

This beer tastes great - almost a Belgian yeast taste complementing the bitterness - but my only problem with it was that it was a complete gusher! An aggressive pour (or even a lame pour) yielded a 1 to 5 or more ratio of head - had to wait for it to settle down, and then it tasted great, and obviously left a huge amount of foamy lacing.

Pour a deep golden amber with about a finger of rapidly dissipating head. Aroma of tea and faint citrus. Taste follows aroma. Very smooth and well balanced. Very enjoyable.

Bought at the Beer Shop in East Longmeadow. Bottled on 10/4/2015. The beer has a murky golden brown appearance with about a half-inch sized white head. Aromas included a light spice mixed with a buttery, floral smell. The taste included a dark fruit flavor mixed with citrus hops and malts.. Body and carbonation was too crisp, especially with the beer's flavors. Overall, I enjoyed the appearance and aromas of this drink, but its carbonation did not supplement the flavors well.

I think I got a bad bottle, but no bottling date on the bottle. Other users seem to have had the same issue. SUDS, SUDS, and MORE SUDS, 1/2" of beer into tulip and the suds were overflowing the glass.. Amber brown nothing great color wise, bitter and somewhat astringent taste. Nose is ok, touch of citrus and grains.

Hopefully this was a bad batch and this problem doesn't continue.

Bomber poured into a tulip glass. Overwelmed with Suds! 10% beer, 90% suds.
light hazy honey color. Pretty good taste, when I could actually get some liquid in mouth.
So overwhelming, I thought I must have had a bad bottle, but upon reading other reviews, I see my experience was not uncommon.
I love BrewMaster Jack!
But this one seems like a failed experiment.

Looks are overrated. Hazy dark honey.
Soft mouth feel.
Fruity smell with slight butterscotch, but get absolutely none in taste.
Lethal dose of hops but they seem mettled. Citrus juice for sure.

Poured with half inch head into a tulip. Clear, golden orange in color. Piney and sweet on the nose, floral notes. Nice balance between bitter and sweet on the tongue. Tastes floral, piney, and oran Mouthfeel is really nice. Perfect body and carb for a dipa. A lot of brewmaster jack bottles I've had lately have been way over carbonated but this one is spot on. Overall, an enjoyable beer, don't think i'll go out of my way to hunt this one down, but its certainly good

Upon opening this beer, I was greeting by a rush of suds that attempted to jump right out of the bottle. I then poured the beer and the glass quickly overflowed.

The beer was severely overcarbonated and it took away from the potential greatness that this beer had. I have read multiple testimonies about how this beer had a carbonation issue. The nose and taste of this beer was grapefruit forward with a nice citrus flavor. However, the carbonation, which is obviously present in the look, was also prominent in the taste as there was a champagne like feel to this beer. Unfortunately it was a detriment to the experience of this beer.

Brewmaster Jack has made some really great beers, but unfortunately the carbonation issue makes this beer fall flat (pun intended). I do look forward to trying this beer again though.

Bomber poured into tulip. Bottle dated 8/11/15.

Look: Nice & hazy like a "typical" NE IPA, golden color. But holy head - could tell with the serious pressure release as I popped the cap, but this thing poured 2 ounces of liquid and the rest foam. Soapy foam coated the glass as the head very slowly receded. It must have taken 10 minutes to get a proper pour.

Smell: A mix of pine and honey on the nose, nice mix of hops here. Unfortunately however, I also get a significant blast of CO2 aroma as well. (Doesn't bode well for the taste.)

Taste: Nice piney hop bitterness, but along with the CO2 "smokiness".

Feel: Great mouthfeel to this, we'll carbonated but surprisingly doesn't feel OVERLY carbonated.

Overall: Not a great bottle but this would have been a very good beer without the bottling issue.

Poured a light golden color in a Spiegelau glass. 3F head which quickly resolved itself.
The aroma is excellent: pine and tropical fruit.
The taste is also very piney, tropical with a spicy, hoppy finish.
Overall: excellent DIPA. Best tasted at 45°F. excellent hops in this beer.

Bottled 6/9/15. As most other reviewers have pointed out, the nose is a bounty of tropical notes. The hops, as to be expected have faded, but there's still a decent kick of bitterness. Even at just over 3 months old, this one seems to have held up well. Similar to Captain's Daughter by Grey Sail. Need to try one fresh.

And yet another outstanding offering from BMJ. Served at 46 degrees, the citrus really pops in both the nose and taste. What I'm really impressed by is the long clean finish. This is right up there with Little Brother. Keep up the good work in Holyoke

Pours a nice light golden orange color, 2 finger head, moderate lacing on glass.
smells amazing, oranges into mangos, huge citrus and tropical fruits.
taste is very similar to the smell certaintely lots of citrus with orange and grapefruit leading the pack followed by very nice resiny pine that coats the mouth and lingers
mouthfeel is very crispy upfront followed by that almost oily coating.
Overall is just wow.. if you love huge tropical east coast dipas then this is certaintely for you, my favorite beer, soo good i had to write my first review. Cheers!

Pours an orange like color, with a decent amount of head. Lots of tropical fruit smell in this. The taste was sweet, with loads of tropic fruit, followed by a nice hop resin lingering taste. This is a fine IIPA by BJ. They are cranking out some great beers as of late.

No bottling date but this just showed up, probably a couple weeks old.

A: Sort of a light orange/golden pour? Clear body, very tall and very effervescent light tan head. Quite good head retention with only a moderate amount of lacing.

S: Sort of a nice sweet citrus. Oranges for sure with hints of tropical fruit.

T: More of the same in the taste. Citrusy up front, evolving into sort of a herbal, spicy pine flavor. Bitterness is there but not excessive. Decent wave of it in the finish however, with a dry cracker-like malt. Lingering saltines and light citrus float between sips.

M: Medium bodied, dry.

O: A really nice, drinkable and jicy DIPA. It's got lots of nice hop flavor but it doesn't grind your bones to dust with the boldness or the bitterness. It's almost more dry than bitter if that makes any sense. Nicely balanced and really easy to drink. Reminds me of a slightly hoppier DFH 90min if I'm honest. Very nice.

A new BJ DIPA. Poured from the 22 oz. bomber into a Sierra Nevada IPA glass.

a: Clear dark gold with a huge three inch thick white head which receded slowly to thick even surface foam and dense patterned lacing.

s: Intense light fruit and pine resin.

t: Follows the nose with the emphasis on pine resin with notes of apple and white grape juice. Plenty of hop bite over a medium bready malt base. ABV very well covered.

m: Medium, good body and loads of carbonation tingle.

o: Another top quality DIPA from BJ, a worthy companion brew to The Little Brother and Hoppiness Is A Warm Pun.

Love the beers these guys are making, so I was excited to grab the new IPA. Bottled on 6/09/15.

Pours a huge rich creamy 2+ finger head that fades semi slowly, nice soapy lacing, thick rich head that just sits around, hazy candy like tan orange color.

Nose has some of that typical Brewmaster Jack aroma combinations, perhaps the house yeast and standard hopping, or malt profile, not sure. Bright hops, citrus and tropical notes, a little mango flesh, guava, big orange cream and some pith, juicy citrus in general, and some creamy malt base.

Taste brings an interesting mix of hops, a quite note before I forget is a flash of a minty hop and tobacco like notes, plenty of big hops though, more earthy than I expected, some citrus but not as much, an orange cream and some rind and pith, hint of tropical notes with a mild guava and mango notes, not much of either, floral spices probably from the yeast. Hops also bring a mild vinous character, like white grape thing, I wonder if they used Hallertauer Blanc. Juice creamy malt base, fluffy malts, no real booze though, perhaps a touch of phenols from the booze though. Grassy floral mild earthy minty hops. Finish is drier a little sticky, hint of warming booze and more floral spice phenol notes, more of that white grape musty hop character, as well as the grassy earthy notes, and a bit more orange cream and guava mango notes. As it warms I start to get an interesting like lemonaide and pineapple thing, tropical and juicy for sure.

Mouth is med bod, creamy, nice carb, hint of booze on the back end.

Overall it's OK, decent flavor profile, nice aroma hops, decent malt profile, hops in general are decent but not great, I do like the different waves of hop flavors as it goes, nothing was phenomenal though, still a well done enjoyable beer.

A nice little stick atop the cap lets me know this was bottled on 6/7/15. Kudos for doing that, guys.

Pours kind of limp. Murky yellowish, quite hazy, with a tiny white head.

Smells fab. Very 2015. Fruity hops, large nodes of peach and melon. The aroma conveys zero bitterness, but there's no need for more conventional balance with a hop profile this delightful.

Tastes just about the same as it smells. Juicy, fruity hops with zero discernible alcohol and just the lightest hint of malt sweeping in near the end.

So... alright. This could be derided as a one-dimensional, and with such phenomenal hopsmanship it's entirely possible there's some off nodes that are being blotted out here. But should I care? No, no I shouldn't. Aside from maybe Cycle's Crank, this is the best fruity-hop-forward double IPA I've ever had.

Bottle from Drum Hill
Slightly hazy dark blond with a smallish white head that dissipates a bit too quickly. Pine, citrus, lightly tart overripe fruit and a bit of bready malt in the background. Decent DIPA.

A: Light gold color with a thin, white head.Fairly cloudy, it's an absolute beauty.
S: Peach, Peach and Peach with some sugary, candy like sweetness. Smells amazing.
T: Extremely similar to the nose.
M: Fluffy mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Hops are prickly to the tongue.
O: Reminds me of a Trillium Fort Point/Vicinity hybrid. Brewmaster Jack absolutely nailed Trillium's style with "Good Sense". Ludicrous! And it's only $6.99/a bomber. Best beer I've discovered this year!!

A- Took two pours from the bomber into my 13oz glass. First pour was very clear. Second put was quite hazy due to the hops and yeast at the bottom. Golden/copper body. Thick white head. Moderate lacing.
S- Super fresh hops. Grapefruit, citrus, mango, peach.
T-Follows the noise. More hops. Slightly detectable malt. 8% is not present at all.
M-Medium/light body. Low carb. Slick feel.
O-A must have for any fan of DIPAs. I really enjoy everything from Brewmaster Jack. Seek it out.
