I noticed a new Brewmaster Jack beer so I got excited, and esp being a Black Ale Project, then when I got home I realized it was a black IPA, an abomination for beer, shame on me for not reading closer
Pours a giant giant fluffy foamy bubbly head almost 4 fingers of head and like 2 fingers of beer, and it fades slowly, I'll never get to the beer, and maybe that's a good thing. The beer is a dark murky grayish brown color
Nose is what I expected, dark malts, a little roasty, caramel, cocoa notes, nougat, mixed with some spicy hops and grapefruit rind, ick
Taste is more of the same, a mix of roasted malts, char, caramel, nougat, a little creamy cocoa, burnt spicy hops, a little citrus rind, it really tastes like burnt spicy hops and pine coffee, a weird lactose milky thing too somehow, mild roasty and astringent finish with a weird friction
Mouth is med bod, a bit creamy, carbonation seems to be almost not there despite the head being crazy big, and weird friction like it's hydrolic fluid or something
Overall, this was just a terrible beer, even for the style, despite that everything clashed with the style as it normally does, on top of that the carbonation was way off, finish was bad, mouth was weird, color was poor, head was impossible to get through, there were so many flaws, I wonder how much of this Jack actually did.

A- Dark mahogany brown pour from the tall can into a tulip. A very thick and lusciously creamy nutty tan cap shoots up to two fingers high with great retention. Wide and plentiful sheets of lace down the glass.
S- Can literally smell the hops from three feet away after the pour and the glass is on my desk. Fresh citrus in massive waves with dankness, fresh hop pellet (somehow more distinct than usual, smells like a great brewday), oranges, grapefruit, lime, pine, floral and herbal hop notes. This all plays off a semi-sweet suggestion from the malts and some toasted to roasted hints.
T- The malts take over a bit more and in no way is that a hinderance to the beer's success. The sharp roasted flavors play off the sharp hops quite nicely and the beer's flavor is a strong and aggressive one. Bubble gum, mango, grapefruit oil, oranges, tangerine, dank weed, floral and pine hops fold well into those malts. Chocolate, slight coffee, toffee and a touch of caramel.
MF- Medium to thick overall body with a fluffy and silky creamy consistency. The carbonation is right down the middle at a moderate level and the brew is very smooth. A somewhat sharp citrus oily bitterness but it all works well with the malts.
Each can seemed to get better, maybe a week or so in the fridge was a good thing to let it settle down as the flavors here are bold and massive. The best part about this is the malts and hops chosen work well off of each other with juicy and bitter citrus giving way to toasted to roast malt notes.
