Poured at fridge temp. Pours a nice dark brown - almost black. Lots of fluffy tan head. Nose is smooth roasted malts, a bit of tobacco, and a nice nutty note. Milk chocolate comes through as well. Very nice! The taste is super smooth. Nicely follows the nose. Roasted malts, slight tobacco, toffee, chocolate, and a slight bitterness on the back end. Really nice balance of sweet and bitter. Mouthfeel is light to medium. Overall, a really fantastic porter.

Clear, very dark mahogany body; thick and velvety light khaki head. Excellent aroma; light caramel and cocoa. The taste follows along the lines of the aroma; richer in character; very mild sweetness; light to moderate hop bitterness; a slight suggestion of grain char. Medium heavy body; smooth and lush on the palate; gentle sweetness throughout offset with a touch of dryness.
This is a very fine and nuanced porter; wonderfully flavorful and soothingly delicious.

A classic black porter with a big creamy head. Notes of heavily roasted malts and coffee. Good flavors of unsweetened chocolate and dark roast coffee. Less sweet than some, heavy on the malt bill and the charred character. Velvety mouthfeel. Extremely smooth and a notch above medium bodied. In lieu of their stout, my favorite beer from TRVE. A great porter.

this has to be one of the most filling lower alcohol porters out there. every time i drink a pint of this beer i am too full to drink much more beer. that almost never happens with me, including with strong ales and way bigger stuff, but for whatever reason, this beer sits heavy in my guts. too bad, because i like the flavor well enough to drink a whole lot of it. nice shiny black look to it, good dark brown head, but its almost metallic in its shine, cool to look at. smells like deep dark roast, heaping specialty dark grains, unmalted roasted barley, and maybe some oats or something. the body has to come from somewhere. notes of char and black pepper in the taste, english ale yeast, dense, raisin, dry and bitter in the finish. lots going on, impressively sturdy. for me this one is a lot better in the winter than in warmer weather, and i still dont really know why it sits so heavy, but it does. these guys get all kinds of love for their wild ales, but this is one of their best not sour beers, and it really is very distinct.
