cool these guys finally made a hefe, its a nice one, light for the summer, showcasing the grain just as much as the yeast, which is what i like about it, and what i think sets it apart from the crowd. paler in color, more washed out straw color, hazy still, but not that rich saturated yellow color i am used to in the style. it smells nice, a more mild banana forward german ale strain of yeast, but the wheat is just as present, fresh and bready, clean for the style, a cool base. the flavor is great, lightly fruity and more than just banana, green pear, even apple notes for a second in here. its dry, very dry, and even somewhat hoppy with a light citrus quality to the finish that also makes it very distinct. smooth in feel, very fresh, clean and simple in the finish, not uber carbonated, but still refreshing. nice to see these guys returning to some more traditional styles that they may have overlooked over the years. beers like this show their true skills as brewers, one of my favorite takes on the style in town right now...
