we dont see nearly enough dark gose out there. i think this is an excellent take on it too. dark brown and shiny in color, no haze here, and nearly an entire inch of off white head, sexy pour. the aroma is sharp, hot lactof or sure, good acidity with some lemon to it right away. the dark grain settles right in behind it, with lots of roast and less of the brown ale chocolate malt aroma than anticipated based on color, its a drier darker complexion. a little herbaceous as well, maybe the coriander. flavor is great, the acidity to body ratio is perfect, smooth but crisp for what it is, plenty of the brine quality, a lighter herbal element, heavy roast with a hint of coffee to it, smooth for being a sour beer, and quiet complex as they go. my one real criticism here is that i cant really appreciate this too well as a wheat based beer. not quite enough of the body to take me there, and the flavor is more roasted barley than wheat, maybe some dark wheat malt was used instead of just a pale wheat with a dark barley, but its not readily obvious to me, and its always something i look for, and look forward to in gose styles. love the flavor though, perfect amount of sourness, decent carbonation. overall another real clever beer from trve, who i reckon has taken over as one of the best in colorado, especially with their wild ales!
