First time visitor in CO, and a bottle shop owner said this is a must-try local gem. Pinkish, leaning more towards medium orange hue. Loud fizzy white head. Tart smell, hints of fruit such as peaches and apricots. A certain mustiness with the aroma, sight funk. Tartness in the taste hits the palate initially, currants? Certain lemon zest and orange peel as well. Not as much funk as the aroma, but still rustic enough to not be too sweet. Dry, acidic mouthfeel. Solid offering!

currants, for most of us at least, are so much less familiar as raw fruit than are many other berries, and as such, harder to appreciate a lot of the time in beer. outside of a generic red berry fruitiness, they often dont really jump out as anything unique or special. in that context, i like this beer even more than i already did, because it is definitely one of the better beers to showcase this fruit that i have ever had. its not really impacted by the fruit too much in the color, a little pink is all, but the aroma and flavor especially accentuate this delicious tangy little berry. tart for sure, the sourness of the beer is definitely exacerbated by the tangy currant, and there is still the juicy sweetness behind it. notes of delicate lemon and red kool aid, some funk for sure, but real sour as they go, and incredibly dry in the end, the fruit is all thats left for a moment after the swallow. ripe and juicy, very summery, but they could stand to scale back the sourness a touch, i think it distracts from some of the more interesting and uncommon features of this beer, and really doesnt need to be quite so sharp, i would have a lot more of these if it were that way, but i was still really impressed with this bottle. absolutely one to go snag at the brewery, these guys are absolutely killing it right now!

Pours a pinkish-orange color with a cloudy body; thin, white head. Mildly sour, slightly fruity aroma; suggestions of peach and cherry; some brett funk. Tart and fruity flavor; cherries and white grapes. Heavy body; acidic; juicy with a dry edge.
A fine tasting sour. It delivers decent overall balance and complexity with a fine, mouth-puckering tanginess.
