considering basically everything trve does is world class, i was surprised i didnt like this more, but their clean ipa types have rarely ever been their best work in my opinion. i did expect more from this one. on tap at falling rock, where the beer often tastes a little tinged and tired, could be some of that at play, but the beer felt heavy and uninteresting to me. really cloudy and dull from the tap, loaded with sediment and more dense than i usually want something like this to appear. matte and without a lot of head. aroma is fine, a slightly faded grassy hop thing going on, some generic citrus there too, and a really soupy wheaty grain base that rolls over any nuance of the hops. the flavor is about the same, i like it having a bit of bitterness, but the flavor element of the hops is lacking, a little tangerine, some herbal bitter greens, and a lightly vegetal aspect. heavy malt even though its not sweet at all, its just really rugged and unrefined, and it drinks and sits heavy for me, even though the carbonation is fine. lingers a little weird on the tongue too. for all the hits these guys keep pumping out, both on the clean and wild sides of their brewery, a rare miss like this is almost shocking because of the quality i have gotten used to from them. ill try it again somewhere else, but this seems like one of their less successful beers of late...

Guess I enjoyed this more than others here, huh. For a 5.6% beer, this tasted like something.
Good appearance, turbid, balanced aromas and taste of citrus, juicy hops, a little dankness in the background. Nothing wrong with the mouthfeel - this was solid. Had it twice, just to be sure (wink). Overall, this is a fantastic beer especially for its weight. Almost like a "session" NEIPA, but with flavor and character. C'mon people!
