they call this a table beer, which to me means fermentation forward, but this is really subtle in that regard. we dont have a category for table beer here on BA yet. on top of that, its copper colored, likely more from the coffee addition than from the malt itself, but i am adding the beer as a red ale, as thats probably closer than saison or wild or anything, at least in terms of how the beer actually tastes, i dont know how its made. what i do know though, its that its downright fantastic, another total winner from these guys, and while its not as funky and neatly wild as their burning off impurities coffee mixed fermentation beer was (one of the best trve beers of all time!), this bring back some of those memories. they use huckleberry coffee, which rules, and there is enough in it here to appreciate the high quality. notes of dry cocoa, wood fire warmth, slight caramel sweetness, bready grains beneath it are just right, and there is just a bit of a yeast side to this, but more english to me with the malt here than saison-esque. insanely dry and clean for how much coffee flavor there is, its enormous in here, but its balanced and resolved at the same time, wildly impressive. trace burnt toast, hazelnut, and honey in the coffee profile too, just wow! drinkable and delicious and with some noticeable caffeine. very unique and impressive! my favorite beer from our recent session here!
