I had another dark lager from a different brewery on the same night, and I enjoyed both. They were fairly similar, though this one was more of a classic schwarzbier. Definitely more roasted than sweet, as other reviews note, so if you like that flavor profile in your dark beers then give this one a try.

This is pretty solid. It just calls it a black lager so I'm assuming it is Schwarzbier, it is very malty and roasted to me though so it reminds me of a dunkel at times.

Blackish-brown body; thick and frothy off-white head. A beautiful smell filled with hints roasted nuts and charred wood. Fine, mellow taste; vanilla and cocoa with some charred dark malt; very mild bitterness counterpointing the deft sweetness. A rather mild mouthfeel; kind of watery and weak yet exhibiting notes of a light roundness to the body; light silkiness; semi-sweet.
A 'mystery' TRVE beer for me. I found it in a side cooler at my favorite beer emporium ($3.00). I have no clue as to when the beer was released. But there is no denying that this is a tasty, robust dark lager.
