Poured stout black, okay , maybe a little darker, with a light brown head.
The taste leads with chocolate, followed closely by cacao, some coffee (mild breakfast blend) and a hint of molasses with some dark fruit to round it all out.
There is a touch of bitter, but it is almost an afterthought.
The feel is lightly viscous, it takes some body to carry all that flavor.
OA, the only disappointment with this is it’s not available in Michigan.

Dark chocolate—what an interesting idea. Funeral tastes great, but more importantly it’s different than any beer I have had before. Up front there is an obscene amount of smooth dark chocolate, which gives way to a heavy dose of roasted and charred malts, and then some spicy hops, tobacco and leather kick in. Smooth with a heavy body and light carbonation. Delicious.

Funerals…. Not my thing. Like, I never saw the “I see dead people” movie,”and I’m not some mall goth dork who is into dark things. I’m Raul. I roar when the sun shines, and I stride when the feeling is right. All things said, this sad beer speaks to me as if Houdini spoke to his chick after his death. A séance… Yeah, that thing. Drinking this sucker I’m dead and alive at the same time.
The horse is alive.

Tar pit black body, opaque; thin yet lasting light brown head, semi-creamy; spidery fingers of foam streak the glass. Deep aroma of dark roasted malt, molasses, dried dark pitted fruit. Rich flavor; dark and sweet grains; bitter and milk chocolate; fine boozy undercurrent; nice presence of light phenols and scorched grain bitterness. Heavy body; dense residual sugar presence, thick and velvety; bone-warming alcohol warmth permeates the body; sticky.
Rich, decadent, flavorful.

Pouring a cellar temp 12 oz can into my snifter. The beer pours jet black color with no light passing through my glass. A soft fluffy beige head of 1 cm foams up and remains through sampling. I get tight dense lattice when I swirl the glass.
The aroma is some roasted malt and a bit of charred wood mixing with some high cacao chocolate and a little bit of citrusy and grassy hop note. The hop character is in the background of the nose, but is certainly present each time I bring the glass to my mouth to drink.
No hint of the 12% on the nose.
First sip reveals a medium body with soft gentle carbonation, texture is smooth and the beer drinks easy.
Flavor is some dark chocolate, roasted malt and charred wood with a bit of tobacco note mixed in for good measure. I get citrusy hop note, sort of an orange flavor here and the beer finishes with dark chocolate. The booze doesnt show on the flavor profile and there isnt any warming to be noted at any time. Pretty straight forward imperial stout that I enjoy.
