love these funky tart table beers with a new school dry hop, and that is precisely what we have here, another fine showcase of the trve mixed culture ferment, pale and easy drinking brew with nice funk and tang, but super drinkable and not just because of the abv, the lack of aggressive sourness helps a lot, and this really is something meant for volume consumption. straw colored, very pale and light bodied looking, but not all the way clear, with an inch of thick and fizzing white head, looks great from the tap. aroma here is green almost vegetal strata, with the oak playing up the earthiness, some zesty lime to it, watermelon rind, and verbena, citrusy, herbal, and clean. light lemony sourness, mature bretty funk, good balance between the two, and that is also true in the taste. the ferment is ahead of the hops in the flavor, which i think i prefer in something this light, but the strata makes it modern, somewhat juicy, and fresh to me even with the wood in here. white wine notes, maybe a hint of not quite ripe berry, and even green apple, no bitterness at all to me, but the sourness comes up quick on the swallow at the same instant. epic carbonation makes the style for me and its right on here, dry as a bone too. who says low alcohol beer cant be complex? this is nuanced and awesome, refreshing even for what it is. would love to try some others from this newish series, the southern hemisphere hops would be right for this...
