a funky mixed culture beer with a ton of tart cherries, really complex, fruity, and good, this is what i come to trve for, and it hit on all cylinders when we visited this time. softly hazy and deep pink to jewel red in the cool shaped glassware they use now, a near inch of pretty white head on top, nice color saturation. the nose is mouthwatering and puckery, as much from the ferment as from the fruit, but the cherries are tangy for sure, hints of red raspberry and cranberry too, red kool aid, new oak, and zingy red wine, light winter spice to me too as it warms, some bretty funk, some lemony bacterial character, lots going on but above all its juicy cherries and funk, really appealing. mature in the flavor but the cherries come across really fresh and forward, faint cinnamon and vanilla, more red wine, red currant, and a light medicinal thing that plays well with the fermentation profile, iodine and curious minerality makes it interesting, light middle sweetness to the fruit, sour at the end, some body but not a lot of grain flavor coming through all the cherry, yet the beer is still remarkably dynamic. not too sour to have a few pours of, excellent overall, and i am excited about the peach edition i picked up a bottle of! great to see these guys still doing what ive always thought they do best!
