12 oz. bottle into a tulip glass
A - Beer pours an opaque deep brown color with a hint of mahogany. Moderate carbonation is visible around the edges of the glass with bubbles rising at a fair clip towards the surface. Head is creamy in appearance and dissipates slowly to a thin lacing in the middle with a ring of foam around the edges. Head is 1 finger high and khaki in color. 4/5
S - Caramel sweetness to the malt along with an earthy nuttiness dominate the aroma. There are bits of dark stone fruit, leather, and floral hops as well. Very sweet smelling aroma. 3.75/5
T - Dark stone fruit such as dates and raisins make up the initial flavor which transitions to a caramel malty sweetness. The middle is made up by an earthy nuttiness, leather, and a slight woodiness. The back end features a floral hop profile that is only somewhat bitter. Bitterness does not linger on the palate however the nuttiness does linger on the palate. 3.75/5
M - Carbonation burn up front transitions to a light wetness in the middle and then to a slight drying on the back end. Dryness does not linger. Light to medium bodied beer that goes down easy and sits lightly. 4/5
O - Well balanced beer between sweet, earthy, and bitter with easy transitions between each flavor note. Not as sweet as expected based on the nose but a good beer nonetheless. One of my go tos when eating at Zwanzigz. 3.75/5
