12 oz. bottle into a pint glass
A - Tall tan head tat is somewhat creamy but also a bit frothy in appearance following a heavy pour. Head dissipates very slowly. Beer itself is black and opaque with very little carbonation clinging to the sides of the glass but some carbonation that rises quickly is noticeable. 4/5
S - Much sweeter than the imperial stout that Zwanzigz puts out. Caramelized dark malt along with a bit of dark chocolate. No real espresso or coffee to the aroma. Cereal and a bit of dark brown sugar is present in the aroma as well adding to the sweetness of the aroma. Overall a very dark bread centric aroma. 4/5
T - Cereal and dark toasted grains hit me right up front which is then followed by a bit of caramel and dark chocolate. Once again, no real coffee or espresso note which is a bit unusual for a porter. There is a bit of leather and and earthiness to the middle but the graininess is the most pronounced flavor note within the profile. Slightly herbal hop finish but not real lingering bitterness at all. Most of the bitterness is up front with the dark malt. 3.75/5
M - Full bodied and lightly carbonation with only a light carbonation tickle throughout the profile. Heavy body lingers in the mouth but it is not unpleasant by any means. Due to the light carbonation, this beer comes across as a bit creamy and smooth. 4/5
O - This beer is nicely balanced between sweet and earthy but there is really no bitterness to really bring things to a full balance. Not overly sweet, not overly earthy, so there is a bit of a simplicity to the flavor profile that can be construed as being muted, but it's really not. Drinks more like a milk stout than most porters that I have had. 4/5
