Sipping tumbler pour from Howler filled yesterday.
A - 3/4 finger caramel head which dissipates to a long lasting lacey foam clinging to the sides of the glass. Beer is black and opaque with no perceptible carbonation.
S - Espresso and Booze followed by maple and burnt sugar on the nose.
T - Taste follows the smell with the addition of bitter dark chocolate and a very light note of vanilla. Ends with a subtle booze and dark chocolate bitterness that lingers quite a while.
M - well balanced but a hair or two thinner than desired. I dislike hot beers, and this one has a very tolerable warmth.
O - A well balanced imperial stout that holds its own against a majority of competitors. Not the top echelon, but near to my heart. Well balanced on the barrel, only a hair thin on mouthfeel. I will have this again for sure when I return. Respect!
