*I put limited in the review, but I honestly have no idea how often this beer is brewed or if it was a one off.*
I have not reviewed a beer in a very long time, but this one brought me out of retirement.
We live in Indianapolis, but make the trip to Columbus. It is a good trip. Daddy gets beer and pizza at Zwanzigz, the kids get ice cream from Zaharako's downtown, and the wife gets to shop at the outlet mall on the way out of town.
I was first impressed they served this beer in a 19oz dimple mug.
A: A solid looking beer. A medium amber color with a cap of bone white foam.
S: Oh baby! This is where is gets good. Applewood, ham, smoke barley. I just wanted to keep my face in the beer.
T: A fantastically balanced Rauchbier. The smoke flavor comes in upfront, but is balanced out with woody and citrus undertones. The smoke reigns supreme, but is kept in check.
M: Good medium body with what I felt was the perfect amount of carbonation.
O: I love smoke beers, and this one was just about as good as I've ever had. This isn't one like a Aecht that will knock you over with a massive smoke punch, but the right combination of smoke, grain, and easily drinkable.
The more I see these guys at beer fests and on my trips down to Columbus the more I am impressed with them. I hope I see this beer again!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
