Imperial Stout is a very intense dark stout with chocolate notes that has been aged in Heaven Hill bourbon barrels, which has developed this Imperial Stout into a flavor explosion with notes of dark chocolate, vanilla, ending in a warm alcohol flavor experience.

Copenhagen 6/4 2024. 47,3 cl can from Den Belgiske Ølbutik, Jyllingevej, Vanløse. What a Mexican Imperial Stout was doing at a Belgian Beer Boutique is a mystery to me. Dark purple can attain the name of beer in a lighter shade of purple and the name of the brewery in white.
Pours opaque dark brown with a small light beige head. Settles as a thin rim of foam running along the side of the glass. No lacing.
Aroma is fairly intense with a strong, sweet malty odor mingling with lactose and a sweet scent of alcohol and wood. Dark roasted malts, sweet bourbon wood.
Light carbonation. Rather thick, oily, soft, slightly viscous, almost flat texture.
Flavor is intense with a strong sweetness followed by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet with distinct boozy undertone. A bit of bitterness peeking in. Finish is semi-dry.
A wholesome Mexican treat.
