Adlerbräu Gunzenhausen is no longer a brewery. The biers offered on premises are now brewed for them by Engelbräu Crailsheim.

I recently visited Adler again, and have some updates... I've upgraded the place in most categories. Atmosphere is quite nice overall, with a warm, welcoming feeling. Service is very good, and quite helpful as well, despite my limited German and their limited English. I've upped the selection rating, as I now know they have 4 of their own Biers on tap, and also offer 4 Biers from Gutmann brewing (mainly Weizens). I had a meal this time (from their extensive menu) and it was one of the best I had all trip. A dish called Bratwürst Gröstl, which was sliced wurst along with potatoes, onions, pickles, cheese and more all sauteed up and served on a sizzling platter. Dee-lish-us!!! The Adler is a verrry good place! And I still love their HellBock!! Prosit!

Original review from 19Oct02: A nice little find off the beaten path. Gunzenhausen lies on the rail-line about 1/2 way between Munchen and Wurzburg. An easy 10-minute walk from the Bahnhof, the Brauhaus has outdoor seating in good weather, and a large indoor Stube with plenty of tables and booths. Great-looking place, with old paintings, bier-steins, and decorations made of barley and hops strung along the walls. One saying on the wall roughly translates to "Eat warm and drink cold, live to 100 years old!" The service was decent, but selection limited to only 3 of their own (including a Hell-Bock and Helles). The Biers were quite good, though. A nice selection of glasses and steins are offered for sale at great prices. (Original ratings not saved). Zum Wohl!!
