Pours a clear, deep mahogany coloration with a medium, fizzy head. Smells of toasted malt and dark pumpernickel bread, with just a hint of grassy hops. Taste follows the nose, being dominated by bready, toasted malts and pumpernickel bread, with a hint of toffee, dark fruits: fig, raisin, and grassy hops. Finishes with a medium bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
This has a very nice balance of sweet malts and bitter hops. Nothing out of the ordinary, but a very solid Dunkles.
