From the half liter bottle, it pours a hazy golden amber color with a modest white head that soon reduces to a quart inch layer. The nose gets bready malts with definite banana scent. In the mouth, taste is slightly sharp, followed by bready malt and hints of banana.
2025 update: Yum! Really great!

Pours a cloudy, deep golden amber coloration with a medium, fluffy, stable head and strongly visible carbonation. Smells of doughy wheat malt, strong spice esters of clove and lighter banana, as well as just a hint of citrus. Taste is quite dominated by the doughy wheat malt and clove esters, with lighter notes of citrus and straw, with just a hint of banana and herbal accents. Finishes with a light bitterness and some clove and citrus lingering in the aftertaste. Full mouthfeel with a medium body and medium/strong carbonation.
This Weizenbock features a somewhat unique flavor profile that is very much dominated by the more spicy clove esters, with very little banana coming through, while also featuring some herbal notes and a hint of citrus. Quite interesting and nicely balanced in its own way, but not quite to my personal taste, the clove really being a bit overbearing here. Never feels too sweet or boozy though, with the herbal, bitter hops providing a good counterpoint to the sweeter malts. Overall quite an interesting, unique Weizenbock, but the clove is a little overbearing, even though I do generally like spicy brews.
