500 ml bottle whose label differs from the one currently shown here on BA but I assume that my Spalter Weissbier is the same product under the slightly different name. Forms mid-sized, short-lived white head that leaves no remnants as it fades out. The initial appearance is more of a krystal rather than hefe-weizen, i.e, a light-golden body with excellent clarity that only gets somewhat hazed pale-straw with the consecutive pourings. The nose is evident banana esters reasonably balanced with clove and backed by malted wheat sweetness and apple-like fruitiness. Flavor is completely bland represented only by wheat grain, tinge of clove and mild tartness probably originating from high CO2 content. Medium-light bodied and effervescent with dry finish.

Boring, like this review but there is simply nothing in this one to write home about. (The beer was purchased in Germany and supposedly fresh, however, only after finishing it I noticed I was given an old bottle past its freshness date so take this review with some reserve).

A pleasant selection from Spalt - in the heart of hop country in Deutschland. Poured a cloudy, dull golden color, with a huge(!), frothy white head, leaving nice lace! Has a huge clove and spicy nose, with a hint of banana. Perhaps even too clovey? Medium bodied, but highly carbonated and prickly on the tongue. Very wheaty flavor, with clove again, and some underlying citrus notes. Not much, if any, banana present. Not bad at all. One of a few bottles of biers I had the strength to lug home at the end of my Bier-trek!
