Pours a deep golden coloration with a medium, fizzy head. Smell is doughy, bready malt with hints of grain, citrus and a certain honey sweetness. Taste follows the nose, being dominated by doughy, bready malt, with notes of grain, citrus, honey and some light apple esters. Finishes with a light bitterness and some more honey sweetness and light booze coming through in the aftertaste. Medium body and carbonation.

A "Heller Bock" seems like an odd style to me, but this is not bad. It's not great either, mind you. but there is a good balance to this.

This was the first bier of my most recent trip to Germany, enjoyed at Hütt'n in Nurnberg for €3.50 for a 0.33l bottle.

Poured into a teku, it was a medium-golden, with sparse, scattered carbo. Had a thin, fine, off-white head which ebbed rapidly, with a minimum of lacing. Had a honeyish nose, and was lightly fruity. Medium in body, it was light on te prickle, for a solid feel.

Was a touch bready, with more honey and some notes of green apple and pear. Finished dry, with some apple skin flavor. A decent Hell Bock to start things off with. Prosit!

A: The color is pale golden while the massive, compact head is crystal white. Nice lacings after slow dissipation.

S: Sweet malt, some dark dried fruits. Bready. Light citric. Bitter hops. SOme nettles in the back.

T: Very bready malt, honey-like sweetness. Dark dried fruits Bitter hops. A nice sourness from the yeast lures in the back. Citric.

M: A sour/bitter aftertaste lingers. The body is a bit harsh, but full. Carbonation is low.

O: A bit harsh, maybe some cellaring could improve this one.
